About me
I offer a wide array of expertise in digital and software solutions. I invite you to review the projects section on this portfolio website to assess my skill levels in IT.
I would however like to focus on another set of experience and skills that I uniquely bring to the table which I acquired as part of an exciting and extensive career. I had the amazing opportunity to work as a Security & Life Safety Manager of a large retail / office tower complex in the Lower Mainland. My background in software allowed me to excel to new heights as I took charge in my aforementioned role. I bring close to 17 years of knowledge and experience in management, leadership, customer service and client relations. I’ve assumed highly dynamic roles that are supervisory, administrative and hands on in nature.
My duties included handling major incidents, emergencies, crises management and preparing incident statements and reports for law enforcement / client review. I was in charge of an amazing team of 65 people. Handling their schedule, training, payroll and retention, allowed for me to hone in my interpersonal skills from which I benefit daily, both professionally and personally. I also applied my IT background in modernizing the site protocols and procedures and matured the site into the digital age. That particular setting brought with it a daily dose of exciting new challenges that helped sharpen my problem solving skills and has allowed me to work great under immense pressure.
My role also had me uniquely positioned to liaison with a wide variety of departments. From all kinds of customers / patrons, company clients, emergency services, tenants, and various department heads, I was usually the go to person for everyone at that complex. I especially pride myself at having maintained a sophisticated and balanced relationship with my site clients.
I now look forward to leveraging these highly specialized skills towards my future goals in software engineering as I transition back into the IT industry.
